ONE WINTER’S NIGHT 2018

The third One Winter’s Night charity concert took place at Guildford's Yvonne Arnaud Theatre on Saturday 13th January 2018. It was produced by GT Live Sessions and sponsored, for the second time, by KP Snacks Ltd. The sound was directed by Joshua Robins and his team from Robins Audio, and the lighting was designed by the magical John Harris. The event raised £10,400 for the two chosen charities - Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care, and the Teenage & Young Adult Cancer Unit at The Royal Surrey County Hospital. The raffle was match-funded by Santander UK, and One Winter’s Night 2018 was hosted by Gavin Thomas.

A spectacular charity concert showcasing local musical talent has raised an extraordinary £10,400 for two Guildford charities.

One Winter's Night is an annual event staged by GT Live Sessions, and in January it once again sold out the auditorium at Guildford's Yvonne Arnaud Theatre. The event was organised and hosted by Guildford musician and promoter Gavin Thomas, who this year chose the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice, and the Teenage & Young Adult Cancer Centre at The Royal Surrey County Hospital to benefit from his fundraising.

"We were thrilled to be sponsored once again by KP Snacks Ltd, and this enabled us to donate 100% of everything we made from ticket sales directly to these two amazing local causes." Mr Thomas said. "I'm also hugely grateful to the staff at Santander UK, who match-funded our raffle draw, adding an incredible £2,000 to our fundraising total.

"This was the third of these 'One Winter's Night' events that we have put on at Guildford's Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, and I'm so pleased to say that this was the best one yet! We had ten outstanding acts performing through the evening, and the atmosphere in the packed theatre was truly extraordinary.

"I was very proud to dedicate this wonderful evening to the memory of Jamie Barber - the theatre's Director, and my friend and inspiration for so many of these projects - who died just after Christmas."

The enthusiastic sell-out audience was entertained by local musicians including: Damian Wilson, Byron Johnston, Harry Baker, Rebecca Jayne, Joshua Selimi, and Harry Miller.

"I'd like to thank everyone who helped support the event. It's a great feeling to be able to promote local live music on a fantastic stage in our wonderful local theatre, and make thousands of pounds for local charities at the same time."

Gavin will be back with his charity music festival ‘One Summer's Day’ on Sunday 22nd July, and GT Live Sessions are already planning the next One Winter's Night event for January 2019.”
