ONE WINTER’S NIGHT 2020

The fifth One Winter’s Night charity concert took place at Guildford's Yvonne Arnaud Theatre on Saturday 11th January 2020. It was produced by GT Live Sessions and sponsored, for the fourth time, by KP Snacks Ltd. The sound was directed by Joshua Robins and his team from Robins Audio, and the lighting was designed by the magical John Harris. The event raised £8,000 for this year’s chosen charity - The Brain Tumour Charity. The raffle was match-funded by Santander UK, and One Winter’s Night 2020 was hosted by Gavin Thomas.

One Winter’s Night melts the heart - by Simon Prichard - Published in The Surrey Advertiser Friday January 24th 2020

“No doubt many a performance at the Yvonne Arnaud in 2020 will dazzle, provoke or amuse, but I’m willing to bet that few will leave you with as warm a glow as One Winter’s Night. Now in its fifth outing, this annual celebration of local music brought together nine talented acts to provide an experience that was as tender as it was thrilling. Local musician and promoter Gavin Thomas presented an eclectic range of performers, each playing a handful of songs to an appreciative full house. They ranged from blues wizard Martin Harley to popstar-in-waiting Luca Mo; from the tropical indie folk of Mica Jane to the rock riffs of Leoni Jane Kennedy; from the mighty voice of Damian Wilson, which has graced 70 albums, to the poignant phrasings of Hannah Turner, who started singing in public less than two years ago. Beautifully staged and attracting an audience as diverse as its stars, One Winter’s Night was a remarkable tribute both to the musical talent that continues to gather in Guildford and Gavin’s commitment to helping it flourish. Gavin started the event to showcase musicians who perform at his regular GT open mic sessions in Guildford. He donates all profits to a different cause each year – this year it was The Brain Tumour Charity – and to date his showcase events have raised more than £60,000 through ticket sales, sponsorship and other contributions.”
